The Polypot® shrimp or prawn pot is assembled from moulded polyethelene.  It measures 650mm x 360mm diameter and weighs approx.4.6kgs

The eco-friendly designed shimp/prawn pot is supplied fully assembled and comes complete with bait tube and door flaps.  It is ready to fish once holes have been drilled to attache a bridle and spinner.  Designed to cause minimum stress to the catch, the Polypot® aims to maximise its potential for getting the catch to port in the best possible condition.

As with all fishing, damage may occur but the simplistic panel design of this pot allows only the damaged panels to be removed and replaced.  Previously, a damaging gale may well have wiped out an entire fleet of pots but now you can repair - even from within the fleet at sea - ensuring the loss of fishing time is kept to a minimum.

Whilst the Polypot® was originally designed to catch the Common Prawn, it works equally as well for other species such as shore crabs (by increasing the diameter of the entrance hole) or eels.  The latter can be caught in individual traps or by bolting two pots together.
